The Territorial Battalion is proud to welcome the 48th Ohio Volunteer Infantry to it's ranks. The 48th is reenacting group based in the North Texas/Louisiana area and as such operates primarily out of the Dallas metroplex. Made of experienced reenactors looking to bring a strong Union impression to the area they offer a experienced base of instruction to our efforts to develop more young reenactors in the region and will be a considerable boost to Territorial's efforts.
The actual 48th Ohio was reputed to be one of the hardest fighting units of the Western Theatre and fought at Shiloh, Corinth, and Vicksburg. Participating in the Red River Campaign under General Banks they were captured at the Battle of Sabine Cross Roads and imprisoned at Camp Ford in Tyler, Texas. After being exchanged they participated in the siege and capture of Mobile Bay. They served in reconstruction efforts in Galveston, Texas until May of 1866. With such a storied unit for their inspiration this group of reenactors looks to be very active in the region and looks forward to commemorating as many 48th Ohio events as possible.
A hardy Huzzah! and Welcome to our newest brothers in the Territorial Battalion!
