The 15oth Pilot Knob event was great in some respects and lacking in others. In true Territorial style we soldiered on, learned a lot, and had a great time.
This site is one of the best in Missouri featuring the still intact 150 year old fort form the battle and a really good museum. However it was clear the event organizers were not expecting the turn out in reenactors and spectators they received. This led to problems with the Saturday scenario not working to historical accuracy, a problem for many participants. After an officer's conference it was decided that a greater attention to detail would be paid for the Sunday scenario. Sunday proved to be a better experience with a heated exchange of fire around the fort and a display of the actual movements of the Confederates assailing the fort. Special recognition goes to Pvt. Wayne Lundquiest for providing mess services in fine style and providing a tasty meal every time the men sat down to eat. As this was not a maximum effort on our calendar we only provided one company to the event but it was one of the largest companies on the field, it was good to drill with our friends from the Muddy River Battalion and enjoy their company for the weekend.
